Quota

A Quota limits the total quantity of a specific resource dimension that can be provisioned within an organization. The platform checks the relevant quota before accepting a creation request, preventing runaway resource creation and controlling costs.

Key concepts

• Product / Resource / Parameter — together identify what is limited, e.g. product compute, resource vm, parameter count (or threadscount, memorygib, diskgib, volumegib, imagegib, s3bucketgib, g3count, c3count)

• Limit — the maximum allowed value for that dimension

• Current value — read-only usage counted against the limit (status.currentValue)

• Quota Change Request — the usual way to raise a limit; Support reviews and applies it

Parameters
UI Name API / kc name Terraform name Optional Format Default Is read only Description
Product spec.product spec.product No string — No Product the limit belongs to, e.g. compute
Resource spec.resource spec.resource No string — No Resource type within the product, e.g. vm
Parameter spec.parameter spec.parameter No string — No Dimension being limited, e.g. count, threadscount, memorygib, diskgib, volumegib, imagegib, s3bucketgib, g3count, c3count
Limit spec.limit spec.limit No 32-bit integer — No Maximum allowed value
Current value status.currentValue status.current_value — 32-bit integer — Yes Current, settled usage counted against the limit
Held value status.heldValue status.held_value — 32-bit integer — Yes Usage currently held by resources still mid-reconcile — the only way to see quota tied up by a stuck or in-flight change, as opposed to settled current value
Reconciled value status.reconciledValue status.reconciled_value — 32-bit integer — Yes Usage from resources that have finished reconciling, excluding any still-pending hold
Usage
Quotas are precreated by the platform — you cannot create or delete them yourself. To raise a limit, submit a Quota Change Request, which Support reviews and applies. List your organization's quotas with kc get quota.
